Session Formats

We try to keep the 'un-school' very simple, grassroots in nature, and above all flexible.

That's why we have developed the three tiered system of private, semi-private and group sessions. In this way, you can arrive in Barra at any time and start classes at anytime, at any level, and work as hard or as little as you want.

We guarantee sessions only to those who book by email in advance.

Obviously it is preferable to us (financially) to have a group of 5 - 6 rather than private classes. We offer the private classes purely as a courtesy and a convenience to you ... that is, if there is no group at your level, you are not left out in the hot sun.

Here is some detail on how we map out the work.

Each session of 5 lessons is $75.00.

Ideal time frame is 5 - 10 days for each 5 lesson session.
Session I
How to Speak Spanish without conjugating!
Five awesome tricks with compound verbs -- you won't have to conjugate the second verb.
As outlined in the What's so Radical About Amiga's section; you will be able to speak 75 full Spanish sentences after your first lesson, and you only have to learn 15 words to make that happen.
These tricks do much more than get you started, and they are real Spanish, not some form of tourist baby talk.
Session II
Past Intensive and Mastering the 18 Major Irregular Verbs
The past is the big 'wall' that many Spanish students never get over. I won't pretend it's easy, but it gets a lot easier if someone will explain the big picture first, and then walk you through the rough patches.
You can get the map in 5 lessons, it will take some time to put these lessons into practice.
Session III
Possessive Pronouns and Reflexives
Possessives are tricky, because they don't translate directly the way English does. Reflexives are over-rated in importance by most language schools. They are rarely used in present tense, so don't bother to learn them until you have the past.
This session will also focus on practicing what's been learned in Sessions I and II.
Session IV
Command Tense, Direct and Indirect Objects
/td>
Ahh yes, one of the final secrets of the language; command tense is actually delightfully easy once you have a vocabulary of verbs to build upon. Direct and indirect objects are confusing unless you are a whizz at English grammar. Most Spanish texts spread them over about 5 lessons and explain them ludicrously badly. They are a finesse part of the language, and not that un-managable if you really want them.
